USM’s School of Ocean Science and Engineering is offering an Ocean Science and Technology Summer Camp for high school students. Students will get to tour the R/V Point Sur, talk with the science team and ship crew about careers in ocean science, and experience a live telepresence event where they will see the discovery unfolding. Ocean Science and Technology Camp is a one-of-a-kind residential camp experience along the Gulf of Mexico, and we hope this connection will inspire our participants to choose a future in STEM.

Our project was matched with the NOAA Teacher at Sea Program. This outreach program provides preK-12 and college level teachers with hands-on research experience working at sea with scientists, and offers unique insight into oceanic research. We will be joined by Betsy Petrick, fourth grade teacher from Wallace and Priscilla Stevenson Intermediate School in White Salmon, Washington.
